Anyone using the Hotspot app can request deletion of their account and its associated data. Below is how to do it and what data is deleted or retained.
Delete your account from inside the app (recommended)
1. Open the Hotspot app and sign in.
2. Go to the My Account (profile) tab.
3. Tap Delete profile.
4. Confirm in the dialog that appears.
5. Your account is disabled, you are signed out, and your data is
processed according to the deletion/retention policy below.
Request deletion by email (alternative)
If you can't access the app, email nikolaj@htspt.app from the
email address you used to register, with the subject "Account deletion request". After we verify your identity, we process the request within 30 days.
Data that is deleted
- Your profile (display name, date of birth, profile photos).
- Your active location/presence in joined hotspots.
- Your hotspot connections.
- Your membership and previews in chats; one-to-one chats are closed.
- Hotspots you created are taken down.
- Your authentication account is disabled.
Data that is retained, and for how long
- Your account and profile are marked as deleted and retained for up to 60 days for technical, legal, and abuse-prevention purposes, then permanently deleted.
- Chat messages you sent to other users may be retained to preserve the integrity of those users' records, but your display name and previews are removed.
- Records we are legally required to keep (e.g. safety/abuse or legal-obligation logs) are retained for the applicable legal periods.
